Creating a Startup Environment where Software Developers Thrive

Zach Kaplan will talk about his experiences creating an environment (physical and digital) that allows his software development team at Inventables to thrive. He’ll discuss his strategy, process, and specific tactics that he’s used successfully at Inventables.
This talk is targeted at Computer Science and Business students.

Speaker Bio: Zach Kaplan cofounded Inventables™ in 2002. Inventables is a web site where vendors of materials can create free online profiles for their products in order to generate sales leads. Potential customers looking to source new materials and technologies browse through these profiles daily and submit inquiries about products they are interested in. Vendors are notified by email each time their Inventables profile receives a new inquiry and given an opportunity to purchase the corresponding sales lead. Prior to Inventables he created Lever Works, a custom web application and hosting company that sold to Leo Media, a multimedia firm, in 2001. He holds a bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois.
